What do hub services and copay adjustment programs have in common?
Specialty hubs are designed to support patients and their providers through the challenges around gaining access to critical medications. Payers have set up a labyrinth of obstacles, such as prior authorizations, benefit verification requirements, and a complicated appeals process, that make it difficult to obtain branded drugs.
Among the newest obstacles are copay adjustment programs, such as accumulators and maximizers, which redirect manufacturer's copay support away from deductible fulfillment.
